Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: When is the Republican National Convention?
A: The 2024 Republican National Convention is July 15th — July 18th in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, though delegates and alternates from Arkansas should plan to arrive as early as Saturday, July 13th, 2024 for an Arkansas-specific event.
Q: How much does it cost to attend the Republican National Convention?
A: The State Committee adopted a filing fee of $300 per filing; it varies state-by-state. 100% of the filing fees collected by the Republican Party of Arkansas will go to the Arkansas delegation to pay for delegation events, breakfasts, swag, etc. Aside from the filing fee, delegates will be required to pay for their own lodging (which has already been secured by the RNC), meals, and travel arrangements, just to name a few. We high encourage potential delegates to begin their budgeting process now.
Q: Can I file on behalf of multiple candidates?
A: Yes, each filing requires a separate filing fee.
Q: When is the election for delegates and alternates?
A: Each congressional district will meet on Saturday, May 11th, 2024 to elect three delegates and three alternates from their district. The remaining 25 at-large delegates and alternates will be elected Saturday, May 18th, 2024 at the Summer State Committee Meeting.
Q: How does the election of delegates and alternates work?
A: The order of candidates is by random draw per presidential candidate. Each candidate will be given a brief opportunity to advocate for themselves at the District and State Committee meetings prior to voting.
Q: How many delegates do presidential campaigns receive?
A: We will not know how many delegates campaigns will receive until after our primary election on Tuesday, March 5th, 2024, when we have the results to allocate. Arkansas has a total of 37 delegates and 37 alternates up for grabs, excluding our 3 voting RNC members.
Q: I want to learn more about the whole process. Can I find a more detailed explanation of the entire process?
A: Yes, here is the entire process adopted by the RPA State Committee last August.
